Chad Schilling

Chad Schilling, head coach

Chad Schilling begins his 16th year with the Thresher volleyball program and his fourth as the head coach. During his tenure as an assistant coach, the Threshers won the regular-season conference title five times and the KCAC Tournament championship seven times.  Schilling led the 2008 team to his first regular-season and tournament championship title as head coach qualfying the team for the NAIA National Tournament for the first time since the 1983 season.  

During Schilling's three years as head coach he has compiled an overall record of 69-30 and KCAC record of 44-10. He earned KCAC Coach of the Year honors following the 2006 season and again last year.  He has had 15 players selected to the All-KCAC teams and six players earn All-Region honors. In addition 10 players were selected as NAIA Scholar Athletes for their efforts in the classroom during the last three years and his teams have been awarded the NAIA Scholar Team Award for the last three years for a team GPA of at least a 3.0. 

Schilling is a member of the American Volleyball Coaches Association. In addition to coaching volleyball, he serves as Bethel College assistant athletic director and as sports information director.

Schilling has two children, Rylie (8) and Brayden (5). 

Stacy Koontz

Stacy Koontz, assistant coach

Stacy Koontz begins her third year with the Thresher volleyball program. 

As a Bethel College student, Koontz participated in both volleyball and track. She was a two-year letter winner in volleyball as a defensive specialist and a four-year letter winner in track. She was a member of KCAC volleyball championship teams as a sophomore and a senior.

As a member of the track team, Koontz was a standout javelin thrower. She owns the women’s javelin record for the KCAC meet and Bethel College, and qualified for the NAIA National Championships her sophomore, junior and senior years, finishing fifth, third and seventh, respectively.

Koontz has a bachelor’s degree from Bethel College (1995) in health and physical education and elementary education.
