Tracy Tuttle, head coach

Coach Tracy Tuttle returns for his eighth year as head coach of the Thresher thin-clads and his 21st year of coaching track and field. Tuttle was a stand-out decathlete, pole vaulter, high jumper, javelin thrower and hurdler at Fort Hays State University under legendary coach Alex Francis. He still holds the decathlon record there at 6951 points — a mark that was set in 1983 and was an All-American vaulter with a personal best of 17 feet. "Being a former decathlete really helps you understand what athletes in many different events are going through and was an invaluable way of preparing to be a coach," Tuttle says.

While at Bethel, Tuttle has coached numerous conference champions and conference record holders, more than a dozen All-Americans and two National Champions: Kendra Doyle (2001) 400 meter hurdles and Jeff Buller (2007 & 2008) javelin. Tuttle was selected as the 2008 Region IV Track Coach of the Year and was also the KCAC Men's Track Coach of the year for the 2009 season.   "We really have a tremendous team of student/athletes who are dedicated, talented and are just a pleasure to coach," Tuttle says. "The combination of a premier facility and great athletes bodes well for the bright future of Thresher track."
