Bethel College women’s soccer team had a season of growth last fall, finishing the season with a 6-9-2 overall record and 2-5-2 record in KCAC play. This year’s team will look to build on that success and participate in the KCAC tournament for the first time since 1999.
This year the team is returning most of its starting 11 including KCAC All Conference players Kelsie Wilson, sophomore from Dodge City, Michele Love, junior from Whitewater, and Stephanie Schroder, senior from Grand Junction, Colo. They will be joined by a few others who will be expected to play larger roles for the Threshers this year. Emily Kliewer, junior from Lenexa, Jess Reger, sophomore from Flagstaff, Ariz., and Patrice Dixon, junior from Fruita, Colo., will be expected to provide leadership and stopping power to the back line. The attack will be led by Cassie Preston, senior from Valley Center, and Kaylee Wiechman, junior from Valley Center.
“This year’s team has a lot of returning players, and they have worked very hard in the off season,” said Coach Moore. “When we add them to the mix of freshmen we have joining the team, I expect [we will] be very competitive this year. I think we are all very excited about what kind of potential this team has.”
